Maine Care
If you can’t afford to pay for medical care right now, MaineCare can make it possible for you to get the care that you need so that you can get healthy – and stay healthy.
Some MaineCare services, such as nursing home care and in-home services require you to be both financially and medically eligible. Medical eligibility for nursing home care and in-home services is determined through the Office of Elder Services – visit Care Options to find out how; financial eligibility is determined by the Office of Family Independence.
MaineCare does not pay money to you; instead, it sends payments directly to your health care providers. You may also be asked to pay a part of the cost (co-payment) for some medical services.
To find out whether you are financially eligible, you will need to visit one of the Regional Offices of the Office of Integrated Access and Support Services. Use the Office Finder to locate the office which serves you.
Before your visit, you can print and complete the application by clicking on the link below.(You may prefer to have the form completed during your interview.) If you are not sure which application to complete, call the office which serves your town
